TIP ON HOW TO PROPERLY PLACE CHAINS ON TIRES

22.12.2020

We are sure that you know that owning chains is an integral part of the obligatory winter equipment, and if there is ice and snow on the roads, it is necessary to put the chains on the tires correctly and thus reduce the possible risk of slipping and other dangers.

Do you know how to place chains correctly?

In general, this is not a difficult and complicated job, but if you happen to put chains on for the first time while the weather is bad and driving conditions are difficult, then installing this equipment will not seem so simple.

Be sure to put on gloves and do the following:
• Take the chains out of the box and spread them out on the ground.
• Make sure they are not tangled or folded.
• Snow chains have two parts - left and right, and each part has its own chain system that goes around the right / left side of the wheel. • The most important thing is to run the main cable through the chains behind the wheels, and connect the ends of the cable to the top of the wheels.
• The chain should be placed towards the front, tread layer of the tire, and the ends of the chains should be hooked.
• Tighten the chains as well as possible.
• After tightening, the black rubber part should be attached to the farthest part opposite the hook Once you have set up the chains, move the vehicle quite slowly for about ten meters, and then repeat the last two steps. When driving with the chains fitted, be very careful not to drive at speeds higher than 50 km / h as the chains may break or come loose quickly. Remove the chains as soon as you reach the cleared asphalt.
